2019 Ride Info

May 4th, 2019, marks the date for the Siskiyou Scenic Bicycle Tour

All ride festivities will take place at Upper Greenhorn Park in Yreka, CA.  Camping is available at the Park on Friday May 3rd and Saturday May 4th.  The Rotary Club of Yreka will prepare a great post ride feast for all riders, with beverages and music. Extra meal tickets may be purchased for non-riders. The 2 long rides will start at 8 am, all others at 10 am.  Register at signmeup.com/126961. The fees are $50/$40/$30/$20/and $15 in descending order for the 81/69/38/21 and 8 mile rides. The 81 mile loop goes around Irongate and Copco Lakes and does include some gravel portions. The other routes are all pavement. Please look at the route descriptions for more information. The 81 mile ride has approximately 4,500 Ft of elevation gain. The Shasta Taiko Drummers will be performing in the park during the afternoon festivities. All bikes are welcome, including electric bikes. Picadilly Bikes out of Ashland, OR will be at the event with demo bikes to try out in the afternoon.

Yreka is located twenty-two miles south of the Oregon border on Interstate 5 and is the county seat of Siskiyou County. Yreka’s elevation is 2,595 feet. May is usually very pleasant, but because of elevation and the elevations you may climb, it is always best to be prepared for inclement weather. Siskiyou County is noted for the Mt. Shasta Ski and Recreation Area, Marble Mountain Wilderness, trails and camping, river rafting, historical districts, antiques, bicycle touring, and Yreka now has the Rain Rock Casino.

      1. Yes- you can camp with a RV, but there are no hook-ups. You will be in the parking lot of a city park. Camping is not normally allowed, but they do so for special events. Sincerely Christal Duncan, event coordinator, drduncanfmc@gmail.com

          1. Dylan, thanks for your interest in our event. Greenhorn Park is a city park and does not normally allow camping, but they do for special events. We can put your truck/trailer in Lower Greenhorn Park- the tents will be in Upper Greenhorn Park. We have 6 people registered for camping so far. We don’t know how many are tents vs RV’s however. You will not have hook-ups, but there are bathrooms in both parking areas. Sincerely, Christal Duncan

    1. Hello, concerning the 2019 Siskiyou Scenic Bicycle Tour,
is there a date that is a “cutoff” for the fee, in other rides at that point the price goes up. Is this the same, and when is that date if there is one?
Looking forward to riding with you,

Wayne- There is no cut-off until the day of the ride. That day there is a $5 late registration fee. Thank you for your interest in our ride. I’m sure that you will love it! Sincerely, Christal Duncan, event director

      1. We have never thought of this, but I suppose you could give your extra clothes to one of the sag wagons, and they can bring it back to the park. Thanks for the idea.

    2. Can we pick up our ride packets on Friday the night before? If so when and where? If not then when and where on the morning of?

      1. You can pick up your packet Friday between 5 and 7 pm at Upper Greenhorn Park in Yreka on Greenhorn Rd. If not then, you can pick it up starting at 7am on the 4th- same place.
